About Leak Detection Pros
Leak Detection Pros is a local Redwood City company built around one job: find hidden leaks, prove exactly where they are, and fix them with the repair that fits. We have worked out of Convention Way, in the heart of downtown, since 2018 — in the same postwar ranches, Eichler slabs and bayside homes across this city.
A Local Company Built Around One Job
We started Leak Detection Pros in 2018 because Redwood City homeowners kept telling us the same story.
A general plumber would open a wall or slab on a hunch, charge for search and repair as one blurred job, and leave the homeowner with a large bill and a hole in the wrong place. Finding a hidden leak is a specialty of its own — it takes acoustic listening gear, thermal cameras, line tracing and the patience to isolate a plumbing system branch by branch. So we built a company around the pinpoint first: find it, mark it, document it — then talk about repair.
Since 2018 we have stayed local. Our office is at 280 Convention Way, our calls come from Redwood City's five ZIP codes, and the homes we work in are ones we drive past daily — older homes near downtown, 1950s ranch tracts in Farm Hill and Woodside Plaza, Eichlers with radiant lines under the slab, and the newer builds out on the bay mud in Redwood Shores. A specialist who sees the same housing stock every week learns where its pipes run, how they were built, and how they fail.

Why Redwood City Homes Keep Us Busy
Redwood City's housing stock is exactly the age where plumbing starts to fail — and its leaks hide in two kinds of construction.
According to the city's own Housing Element, 61% of Redwood City homes were built between 1940 and 1980, and only about 30% have been built since. That means most supply lines here are at or past their service life. Many older tracts sit on raised foundations with crawl spaces, where a leaking line can drip unseen for months — the calls our crawl space leak detection work answers. Slab homes, from Eichler tracts to newer construction, hide their leaks under concrete, which is what our slab leak detection process is built for.
One thing you will never hear us blame is the water. Redwood City's supply comes from the Hetch Hetchy system and is some of the softest in California, at roughly 8 mg/L hardness. When a copper line here starts pinholing, the honest causes are age, household water pressure, and decades of soil contact — plus Bay Area clay soils that swell and shrink with the seasons, stressing buried lines. Diagnosing the real cause matters: the right fix for a pressure problem is not the right fix for a worn-out line.
How We Work: Pinpoint First, Always
Every call follows the same order — locate precisely, document in writing, then price the repair in ranges before you decide.
Detection is its own job, quoted on its own: typically $100–$300 for a basic inspection, $300–$800 for electronic acoustic detection, and $500–$1,200 for slab or underground locating. We isolate the line, pressure test it, trace its run, and confirm the spot with acoustic and thermal equipment. Then you get a written detection report — the marked location, what we found, and photographs — the documentation insurers ask for when a claim involves tearing out and restoring access.
Only after the pinpoint do we talk repair, and we lay the options side by side with their ranges: a spot repair through the slab runs $1,500–$3,500, while a reroute around the problem area runs $2,000–$4,500, and repiping enters the conversation when a line has failed in more than one place. Want a second opinion first? Take the report with you — it is yours. That is the standard on every job under our services: real numbers, in writing, before anyone cuts.
Where We Work
We cover all of Redwood City — ZIP codes 94061, 94062, 94063, 94064 and 94065 — and we keep our service area tight, so a call gets a specialist who knows the street, not a dispatcher three counties away.
That includes Downtown, Redwood Shores, Woodside Plaza, Friendly Acres, Roosevelt, Farm Hill, Palm Park, Redwood Oaks and Edgewood Park, along with Emerald Hills just over the city line in unincorporated San Mateo County, where homes carry a Redwood City address. Each area has its own build era and leak patterns, so we keep a dedicated page for every neighborhood — see all our locations for yours.
Questions About Our Company
When did Leak Detection Pros start serving Redwood City?
We have operated in Redwood City since 2018, based at 280 Convention Way downtown. We only work in Redwood City's five ZIP codes, so the homes, pipe materials and soil conditions our specialists deal with are the same ones every single day.
Are you a local company or a national call center?
We are locally owned and operated in Redwood City. When you call (650) 632-9185 you reach our own team here — not a franchise dispatch hub and not a lead-selling network. The specialist who answers is the specialist who knows these neighborhoods.
Do you only detect leaks, or do you repair them too?
Both. Detection is its own job, priced on its own: we pinpoint the leak and hand you a written report. Then, if you want us to fix it, we lay out the repair options — typically a spot repair, a reroute or repiping — with a price range for each. You are never locked into a repair just because we found the leak.
What areas do you cover?
All of Redwood City — ZIP codes 94061, 94062, 94063, 94064 and 94065 — including Downtown, Redwood Shores, Emerald Hills, Woodside Plaza, Friendly Acres, Roosevelt, Farm Hill, Palm Park, Redwood Oaks and Edgewood Park.
